Every patient who sees Dr. Vincent Leering gains the benefit of his experience and knowledge in body movement and functional strength training. Those who are workout enthusiasts will appreciate more advanced training tips to avoid injury and strengthen for rehabilitation.
Today we are sharing Dr. Leering’s exercises to improve posture, which are important at every age!
Weights: for the initiated.
- Face Pull: using 2 ropes or straps, overhand grip, using the pulley stack, pulling arms up into a “w”.
- Rows: either seated in front of a pulley stack, or dumbells/ barbell bent forward at waist squeezing the shoulder blades back.
- Shrugs: using dumbells or barbell with a slight lean forward. Shoulder blades back and up. Think behind the ear, not to the ear.
-Or-
Calisthenics: for those with good mobility and coordination.
- Wall Angels: step one foot away from wall, slow and purposeful, making like snow angel arms.
- Prone Y/ W raises: lying face down, raising arms up in “w” or “y”.
- Thread the needle: on all fours, reach through with one arm under the other and back to neutral.
